Lectors spread the word of God. They proclaim the readings at liturgical celebrations for our community.

They help make the scriptures come alive in our hearts. Training is provided.

ALTAR SERVERS

Altar Servers assist the priest at the altar during weekend Masses by carrying the cross and candles,

helping set the altar at the offertory, and assisting in ensuring everything is ready before Mass begins.

Any of our youth in grades 4th through 12th grade are welcome to serve.

USHERS / GREETERS

The ushers have the responsibility to greet parishioners and visitors as they enter church. Their ministry

is to assist others by handing out materials needed for liturgical functions, finding a suitable place in church for

everyone, taking up the collection, selecting a family for the gift offering, directing those who are receiving

communion and helping in other areas where needed. This ministry is open to anyone over the age of 18.

CHOIR

The choir adds spirituality to the liturgy by reinforcing and embellishing the congregational singing as well as singing music composed for the choir alone. Choir practice takes place on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 pm in the church.

ART & ENVIRONMENT

The Art and Environment committee is responsible for the decor, banners and placement of flowers and candles

used to enhance our liturgies. Through this committee, we show God our love and gratitude for His

gifts of "Beauty" using flowers, art, fabrics and light while beautifying His Sanctuary.

Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP) is a weekend of spiritual renewal designed to help individuals grow in their personal relationship with Jesus and with others in the faith community of Mary Queen of Heaven. It allows us to take a break from our busy lives, share our faith with others, and get to know who God really is in our lives. 

MARRIAGE MINISTRY

The Marriage Ministry encompasses two areas of service to the parish community. We facilitate the FOCCUS pre-marriage preparation program, and we plan and coordinate adult activities and programs.

ORDER OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS: OCIA

The OCIA team meets on Sunday mornings to catechize those seeking the Sacraments in order to become full members of the Catholic church. The team works together to teach the faith and share what being Catholic means to them.

Each week, dozens of men gather for a hot breakfast, fellowship, and most importantly to take the next steps to experience authentic freedom as sons of God together. TMIY is an interactive men's program focused on the development of male leadership in the modern world. It combines the best research with the teachings of the Catholic faith and the wisdom of the saints to develop the vision of authentic men capable of transforming themselves, their families, and greater society. TMIY is open to men from ALL parishes.

The goal of our Commission is to promote Vocations not only to the priesthood, diaconate and religious life but also to married and single life and to help each person understand that we all have a vocation.

BEREAVEMENT MINISTRY

The MQH Bereavement Committee companion helps families in the preparation of a dignified and meaningful Catholic Rite of Christian Burial for their beloved deceased. The committee also reaches out to these families over the weeks and months following their loss. Each year on November 2, All Souls Day, the Bereavement Committee prepares a display of photos of our deceased loved ones.

This ministry reaches out to those in the community who are unable to attend Mass but desire a connection to God and neighbor through Holy Communion. By our presence as God's ministers of Love and Compassion, Mary Queen supports the homebound as well as their families.

PEACE AND SOCIAL JUSTICE

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY

This ministry provides help to people in need from the communities of Addison, Elmhurst, Bensenville, and Villa Park. Things such as utility bills, rent, food, car repairs, and doctor bills are considered and proof of need is required. We also work with the Elmhurst Walk In ministry and the IC Food Pantry. Additionally, during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays we have a Food Drive and Christmas Giving Tree, plus a food drive for families and baskets for children at Easter.

COUNCIL OF CATHOLIC WOMEN - CCW

The Council of Catholic Women is a medium for Catholic women to speak and act with one voice upon matters of common interest in Church and society; to support social justice issues and the protection of human life in all stages; to promote Catholic spirituality and prayer and provide social activities of interest to all the women in our parish and to be of assistance to the Pastor.

MEN'S GROUP

The Men’s Group is a social and service group open to all men of the parish. We organize the MQH 5K Run/Walk fundraiser and work together to support the parish community and to assist other parish ministries. We meet on the first Thursday of every month for a business meeting and social get-together.

MOM MINISTRY

This is a free playgroup for moms with little one's ages 0-2. They will meet Tue. Mornings from 10:15-11:45 beginning Jan. 9th, 2024, in room 4/5. It is a great way to get younger children together while moms can chat and establish relationships with other moms of similar ages children. They visit, kids play - it is a relaxed, come as you are, and when you can.

Our ministry seeks to keep the MQH gardens beautiful during the spring, summer and autumn seasons. We need people who can help with cleanup, planting, and watering. Please call the parish office if you are interested in helping with this ministry.

Each weekend, this team provides live streaming of the 4:30 pm and the 10:30 am Masses for those that are unable to attend Mass in person. 

The Sacristan prepares the sanctuary and the altar including all items needed for Mass. They also clean up the altar after Mass, wash the vessels, and either prepare the altar for the next Mass or put vessels away.
